Quality Of Life Update (27th May)
Description: This update focused a lot on performance enhancements, quality of life updates, frame rate boosting and general features that make the game easier to understand and more attractive for newer players. Replacing tons of legacy UI, features and fixing many issues. The next update after this will be exclusively PVP focused aimed at enhancing PVP in the game.
HUD Update 1: Hotkey Update
Description: Created a new modernised hotkey system thatβs highly performative compared to the older laggy variation. It should now be smooth to use and offer expanded functionality such as searching through skills by typing the name.
- Hotkey Menu: Removed the bloat, now only opens this new menu instead of giving you 10 different types of ways to set hotkeys.
- Search: Allows you to search through skills by typing the name of the skill. This makes it far easier to search through skills.
- Presets: Supports presets and you can flip between presets, save or load presets.
- Lag Fixes: This new hotkey system is incredibly smooth, and works with ZERO lag.
- Skills Binding: You can bind skills by either dragging the skill to the key, or tapping the skill and clicking a key.
- Extra Support: New hotkey system now supports CTRL + ALT keys. Similar to shift keys, you can now bind skills on CTRL sheet or ALT sheet.
HUD Update 2: Chat Update
Description: Updated and modernised the chat system to use a newer system which allows for expanded functionality such as emojis, notifications, autofill command bar, more settings, slash commands among many others.
- Chat Settings: You can now edit your chat settings, sizes and enabled features by opening Settings > Chat Settings.
- Emoji Support: The game now supports various emojis with an emoji picker, you can either start typing the emoji in the input box by typing a colon, and it will autofill a list of emojis or you can directly press the emoji button and click emojis.
- Custom Emojis: The system supports custom emojis added by admins. Various Iphone emojis have been added by default for all players as they look cleaner. Additionally, animated emojis & some discord emojis added to Ultra Package.
- Tabs: The chat system has various tabs from All, Global, Local, Events, and Gains to remove bloat from the chat.
- Command Bar: You can access commands by typing slash and writing the command, the system will autofill and give you options so you do not need to write the exact name. Additionally, you can press command in the dropdown to do it without typing slash.
HUD Update 3: Statpanel Update
Description: Replaced the old native BYOND statpanel with a fully modernised one β way smoother, way more functionality, and properly themed to match the chat. Right-click context menus on every row, drag-and-drop tab reordering, a proper settings menu, and a bunch of brand new tabs.
- Statpanel Settings: A proper settings cog in the top-right opens a full preferences menu β toggle features, resize text, pick layouts, manage tabs and more, all in one place.
- Pin / Hide / Reorder Tabs: Right-click any tab to pin it (shrinks to icon-only Chrome-style), hide it (gone until you turn it back on in settings), or drag tabs to reorder them however you want.
- Favourite Tab + Categories: Star anything from a right-click menu β skills, verbs, players β and it lands in your Favourites tab. You can sort favourites into up to 5 custom categories so your kit stays organised.
- Skills Sub-Tabs: Skills tab now auto-groups by skill type (Melee, Blast, Ability, etc) with a filterbar at the top. Toggleable in settings if you want the old flat list back.
- Combined Items Tab: Optional setting that merges Items / Clothes / Special / Modules into one Items tab with filter pills β far less tab clutter.
- Souls Tab: Dedicated tab showing every Z-Soul you own with flat icons.
- Right-Click Context Menus: Right-click any skill, verb, item, or player to get a proper menu β Bind Key, Favourite, Observe, Telepathy, Use Verb On, etc. No more memorising which obscure verb does what.
- Bind Skills From Statpanel: Right-click a skill β Bind Key β pick from a grid. Bound keys show as a suffix on the row so you always see what's wired up.
- Hide Empty Icon Boxes: Setting (on by default) that hides those ugly
[ ]placeholders when Stats / Target / Skills rows have no icon. - Text Size: Small / Medium / Large for Stats and Target sections β pick whatever's comfortable.
- List Layout: Skills / Build / Science can render as a single column or an auto-fit grid that fills the panel width with as many columns as fit.
- Sense Target Setting: Optionally hide the Target section when you aren't actively targeting someone, instead of it sitting there empty.
- Show Extra Target Details: Toggle whether to show the verbose Target info or keep it minimal.
- Hide Tab Icons: Strip icons off tab labels for a cleaner text-only look if you prefer.
- Custom Verb Categories Auto-Create Tabs: Admins can drop a verb into any category name and the statpanel automatically creates a tab for it β no code change needed.
- Live Refresh: Tabs update in real-time (item churn, stat changes, etc) with smooth diffing β no more flicker every tick.
- Smart Dropdown Closing: Right-click menus and the chat command palette now close when you click anywhere β the game map, the chat, anywhere β instead of lingering until you click their own pane.
- Admin Tools: Admin-only Admin / Who / Server tabs β searchable player lists, per-level filtering, live server stats, and new-vs-legacy stat-panel adoption tracking.
- Extreme Performance Enhancements: Players can now stay on every single tab regardless of whether its stats, sense, science, build menu with zero lag.
- All The Tabs: Player tabs include Stats, Items, Clothes, Skills, Modules, Special Items, Build, Science, Sense, Target, Scan, Smell, Radar, Nav, Ship, Planet, World, Training, Quest, Saga Mission, Saga, Invasion, Black Star Event, Souls, Favourite, and Other β most are context-aware and only show up when they're actually relevant (e.g. Ship when piloting, Invasion during one, Black Star Event during the event). Admins additionally get Admin, Who, and Server.
- Legacy Fallback: Players who prefer the old native statpanel can flip it off in settings β full backwards compatibility.
HUD Update 4: Build Menu Update
Description: Replaced the old BYOND grid-based Build menu with a fully modernised popup β way smoother, way faster, looks the part next to the new chat / statpanel / hotkey HUDs. The legacy one used to spam-instance thousands of objects into native BYOND grids every time you switched a tab (which is why opening it would freeze your client for a few seconds and lag-spike whenever you flipped between Science and Build). New one is built on the same HTML / CSS / JS engine as the rest of the new HUDs and has ZERO lag.
- Modern UI: Dark theme matching the chat / statpanel / hotkey HUDs. Items render as crisp icon-and-label cells in a clean grid that adapts to whatever size you stretch the window to. Tabs along the top, search box per tab, big readable text everywhere.
- Opens Instantly: The menu pops up immediately the moment you press the hotkey β no more 2β3 second freeze every time you open it. The grid is up and clickable straight away.
- Pre-Warmed Icons: All your build / science icons get prepared quietly in the background when you log in, so by the time you open the menu they're ready to display without making the game lag. No "wait, where's the icon" β they just show up.
- Smart Loading: The Science tab loads its icons first (since that's the most common tab people open for), then the other tabs fill in over the next moment. If you click an unloaded tab, it jumps to the front of the queue and loads next β never wait through tabs you don't care about.
- Search: Every tab has a search box at the top β start typing and it filters live. Massive quality of life on the Science tab where you can finally just type anger module instead of scrolling through 150+ items.
- Buy Confirmation for Science: Single-click a science item and you get a clean confirmation modal showing the item icon, description, and exact cost β with a big Buy button (greyed out if you can't afford it). No more accidentally double-clicking and instantly burning resources on the wrong thing.
- Build Items: Single-click selects a build item exactly like the old menu β then click the world tile to place it. All cost / restriction checks (sagas, quest maps, BSDB event, etc) work identically to the old system, nothing was changed about how building actually happens.
- Map Bloat Removed: ~716 map-only RP tiles that were polluting the Decor tab have been excluded from the menu. They still exist in the world (won't break any maps), they're just no longer buildable through the menu β so Decor is finally clean and only shows things you'd actually want to place.
- Resizable: Drag the corner to resize, the grid reflows automatically. Stretch it wide and you get more columns, shrink it down and it stacks vertically.
- Zero Lag: This is the headline. The legacy menu used to instance hundreds of objects every tab switch and burn the BYOND grid system for every cell render β which is why your game would freeze. The new menu does the work once and never touches BYOND's grids. Opening, switching tabs, searching, and buying are all instant. Even the Science tab with 150+ items stays smooth.
- Performance Hooks: No background loops, no per-tick refresh, no overhead when the menu is closed β it only does work when you're actually using it. Closing the menu fully frees everything.
- Admin Toggle: Admins can flip the whole new build menu on or off server-wide via an admin verb, and individual players can fall back to the legacy menu under Other β Toggle New Build Menu if they prefer the old one for any reason. Full backwards compatibility.
Alternatively, new stat-panel system allows you to toggle build & science menu as itβs own distinct tabs in your stat-panel as a throwback to how the legacy build & science menu worked around 15 years ago. However now, itβs highly smooth, zero lag, and has filtering options like a search bar.
Lag & Performance Fixes
Description: Big backend pass aimed at killing the random CPU spikes and the choppy feel that creeps in over long uptime. Several systems were quietly doing way more work each tick than they needed to. Game should feel noticeably smoother across the board, especially on busy hours.
- Tick-Time Cleanup: A few core systems were scanning through the entire game state every time they did anything β game loops, every chat line, every check, every broadcast. Rewired all of them to only touch what they actually need. Single biggest win against the random CPU spikes.
- AFK Sparring: Made many modifications to players who are AFK sparring using up several resources from constant attacking, animations, stat panel and HUD updates. Inactive players stat panels and animations should pause till they are back. Sparring while AFK strips several of the combat code out of it as itβs not necessary for sparring, resulting in a massive boost in performance.
- Memory Spikes: Fixed a huge bug with the game building up lists overtime making the game increasingly more laggy as time goes on. The game should now have a smoother frame rate during play.
- Registry Lists: Several object types (capsules, power orbs, mob spawners, capsule homes, instance markers, NPC turrets) now keep their own lightweight tracker lists. Lookups that used to be full world sweeps are now instant.
- Race Passives: Reworked the race passive check (one of the most-called procs in the game) so it does roughly half the work per call. Adds up fast at millions of calls per minute.
- BP Pipeline: Restored a safe per-tick cache on the BP boost calculation β same result, far less repeat math during combat.
- Save Loop: Periodic auto-save loop is now an admin toggle and off by default. Players still save normally on logout / death / login; you just don't get a server-wide save sweep eating ticks every couple minutes.
- Admin Tab: Fixed a long standing bug with admins lagging the server so hard and making everybody near them frame rates drop massively. This fix is through the new stat-panel hud which doesn't require you to give admins 500 BYOND verbs to do anything.
- CPU Watcher: New admin tool that auto-captures a profiler dump the moment server CPU spikes above a threshold. Catches lag spikes live with no guesswork.
- Audit Memory: New admin tool that snapshots the entire server's state (counts, list sizes, area populations, etc.) into a clean visual report. Compare fresh-boot to hours-in to instantly see what's accumulating. Snapshots persist across reboots.
- Profiler: Fixed the SendMaps profile so it now actually collects data, letting us properly diagnose "choppy" symptoms that aren't CPU-related.
- Misc: Turret targeting, pack-skill spawn lookups, and a pile of smaller systems all got smarter about how they find things in the world. Dozens of small wins stacked together.
- New UI: Added brand new Build, Science, Statpanel, and Chat UIs to replace the old laggy BYOND menus and statpanels. Same functionality, way smoother and far easier on the eyes.
Bergamo Meter Rework
Description: Bergamo's Damage Absorbed Meter has been rebuilt into a modern meter system, matching the style of Hit's Time Meter, Vampire's Blood Meter and Primal Titan's Fury Meter. The meter now shows clearly under your health bars and decays gradually instead of instantly resetting to zero when you stop taking hits.
- Live HUD Display: Your current Bergamo Meter (0β100%) now shows under your health bars in real time. If you're already running a second meter system on the same character it'll automatically slot into the secondary meter bar so both stay visible.
- How You Gain It: Taking damage builds the meter β every hit you eat (melee, ki, blast, environmental, whatever) feeds it. There's a small per-hit cap so a single nuke can't fill you instantly; sustained pressure is what tops you up.
- Damage Bonus: The fuller your meter, the harder your outgoing attacks hit. Scales smoothly from no bonus at empty all the way up to +27% damage at 100% meter. Affects your melee and skill damage values (you'll see Strength/Force in your stats reflect it via the existing Bergamo size scaling).
- Visual Growth: As your meter climbs, your character visibly grows in size β up to 3x at full meter, same as the classic Bergamo look. Re-scales every ~15% so the growth tracks your meter naturally.
- Gradual Decay (not an instant wipe): Once you stop taking damage for about 8 seconds, the meter starts decaying slowly (~1% per tick) instead of slamming back to zero. You keep most of your bonus through short lulls in combat β only a real disengage drains you out.
- Passives Tab Entry: "Damage Absorbed" now appears in your passives list with a description of what it does, so you can see it alongside your other Bergamo passives.
Bug Fixes β Skills & Combat
Mastered Instant Transmission: Fixed allowing players to teleport to player-built tiles, letting them enter bases by targeting players on the same z-level.
Hit Skills: Time Prison, Time Molotov, Time Lag, and Temporal Strike now all contribute to your Time Meter. Previously only basic attacks built meter β this gives Hit more methods of restoring it.
Burn Damage: Fixed burn damage dealing no damage to NPCs. Now works on NPCs the same as players.
Beam Milestones: Fixed milestones not working despite previous update attempts. Also fixed a typo. Should now actually function.
Maniac β Sinister Toss: Fixed being able to spam skills while grabbing players during the toss.
Brave Sword: Made several balance changes to reduce its extreme power level.
Bug Fixes β Races
Cerealian: Fixed retaining both the old and new transformation, causing conflicts. Now only has the newer transformation. Modified damage rating on all melee and ki techniques. Improved tracking on ki techniques like Finger Blitz Barrage to match the race's high accuracy traits. Transformation now gives a 15% strength and force bonus that was previously removed during a nerf. Can now double-tap power-up to transform like all other modern transformations.
Pure Majin β Rebalanced: Previously, Pure Majin had an extreme combination of regeneration, tankiness, damage, and aim assist making them effectively unbeatable. The following changes have been made:
- Now takes 10% more damage.
- Now drains 20% more energy.
- Damage on various skills has been toned down.
- Pure Majin is intended to be a high-regeneration glass cannon. They heal fast but are susceptible to burst damage. To beat them, deplete their health and energy as fast as possible.
Seven Three, Arale, Glorio: Fixed missing BP loss modifiers for low health and energy, causing battle power to drain too drastically. Seven Three and Arale received a minor stat point bump of 6 and now have high cybernetics battle power rating as android-type races.
Glorio β Arc Lightning Storm: Fixed dealing no damage or significantly lower damage than intended.
Primal Titan: Fixed several bugs causing Limit Burst to trigger on other players instead of yourself.
Cooler: Fixed transformations retaining both old and new versions. Now has two modern transformations β Fifth Form and Emperor Form β with separate boosts and requirements reflected in the transformation database.
Angel: Fixed not having Regeneration and Position Swap despite the guide stating they should. Now granted on load or creation.
Regular Yasai β Saiyan Spirit & Arm Break: Fixed these skills not being added to the learn list.
Bug Fixes β UI & Systems
Stat Bug: Fixed an urgent issue with the stat cap gradually raising to infinity.
New HUD: No longer freezes movement until you click the screen. Focus now returns to the game automatically unless you're typing in an input box.
Stat Panel HUD: Streamlined the panel β removed empty checkboxes, reduced text size, and improved overall readability.
Combat Log: Fixed Stat Panel and Chat disappearing after redoing stats. Now refreshes properly.
Soul Contract: Fixed the new stat panel missing a Soul Contract tab. Now functional.
Chat Bugs: Fixed Examine, Wall Inspector, and Medical Scan not displaying in the new chat system.
Medical Scan: Fixed not showing in chat, preventing players from checking Soul BP and other information.
Observe: Fixed the command not working from the command bar.
Right Click Verbs: Fixed right-click observe option being missing.
Epic Spam: Fixed a long-standing bug with the game spamming "epic" in chat every time an NPC spawned or was killed.
BP Gains Message: Now shows in the All tab rather than just the Gains tab.
Events: Super Boss, Legendary Boss, and Boss Rush now show in the All tab and notify players when they start.
Quality of Life
Favourite Tab: You can now favourite skills by right-clicking them in the skills tab, assigning them to categories. Once set up, you can optionally hide the skill tab entirely via right-click or stat panel settings.
Command Bar: Now supports arrow keys to navigate the dropdown menu instead of requiring mouse input. Autofill no longer requires commands to be typed in order β typing "Elo" will show results like "Show Elo Rating" even without typing "Show" first.
Transformations β Stat Display: Accuracy, Reflex, Regeneration, and Recovery boosts from new transformations are now displayed in the stats tab and stat rating. Clears up confusion when players don't notice stat changes.
Great Puranto: Outgoing damage boosts are now reflected in the stats tab and stat rating.
Training Orbs: No longer show a yellow overlay at Planet Vegeta Fitness and Earth Tower. Admins can toggle visibility of training orb range.
Transformation Database: Updated with latest values and new race transformations. Now automatically updates every reboot to reflect current data.
Balance & Other
Era Reset: Now slightly changes your DNA every reset, preventing Soul Contract from being retained post era reset.
Guns: Disabled all guns and gun blueprints. Guns will be reworked into a modern system in a future update.
Packages: Fixed players with an underscore in their key being unable to receive packages.
Changes & Bug Fixes 2
Patch Notes
Bug Fixes
Primal Titan β Chainsnap Rampage: Fixed the skill activating Limit Burst on your opponent instead of yourself, unintentionally buffing the enemy. Now correctly triggers on you.
Maniac β Sinister Toss: Maniac fighters can no longer spam techniques on opponents during Sinister Toss.
Command Bar: Fixed a bug where typing verbs belonging to objects would apply the verb to yourself instead of the object β resulting in things like upgrading your health into the millions via medical scan, causing massive unintended boosts to health and battle power.
Mercenary Gang Quest: Fixed another player being able to derail your quest by jailing your mercenary NPCs.
Balance
Seven Three: Slightly reduced the power of Seven Three's energy drain beam. Still a strong skill, just less overbearing.
Eis Shenron β Ice Tiles (Performance): Major performance overhaul to Ice Creation. Now uses a caching system that reuses ice objects instead of constantly creating and deleting them. Added a cap on the number of ice tiles that can exist before the system starts recycling existing ones, preventing unlimited stacked tiles.
Eis Shenron β Ice Tile Healing: Healing and energy recovery from standing on ice tiles has been nerfed. Was previously over-tuned.
Quality of Life
Show BP Gains: Now remembers your toggle state through relogs and reboots. If you had it on before, it automatically restarts without needing to re-toggle.
Bergamo Meter: Reworked the Damage Absorbed Meter to a modernized system. Now displays clearly under your health bars and decays over time rather than instantly resetting to zero.
Drop All: Added a Drop All button to the Looting Window. If your inventory is full, this lets you dump the opponent's items on the floor to be scrapped or stolen.
Supreme Kai: Removed Demonic Destruction Achievement requirement for Supreme Kai Special Rank. This is because demonic trials quest is disabled temporarily.
Looting Menu: Added a modern looting tab to the new stat panel. Players can opt in or out of using this instead of the popup window.
Saga Tab β Boss Locations: Boss locations are now displayed in the Saga tab, updating in real time. Makes it easier to hunt bosses without guessing their position. Currently only available on the new stat panel HUD.
Training Pack β Gravity Auto-Start: After loading in from a reboot while using AI Training, the game now scans your nearby area for a gravity machine and turns it on automatically if it has energy.
Inventory: Now displays your item caps and various other details.
Ultra Package: Restored legacy features to the new Ultra Package:
- Increased inventory cap.
- Breathing in space.
- Sensing planets in space.
- Planetary flight.
Stat Panel & Command Bar: Dropdown menus now close when you click elsewhere on the screen or another HUD element instead of staying open.
